Curriculum
Faculty Participation in Educational Activities
Faculty members in the Florida State University College of Medicine Surgical Critical Care Fellowship are actively involved in all aspects of fellow education and contribute significantly to the program’s learning environment. They participate regularly in structured teaching activities designed to enhance clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice.
Clinical Discussions and Rounds
Faculty lead daily multidisciplinary rounds in the intensive care unit, focusing on patient evaluation, decision-making, and management strategies. These rounds include real-time teaching, case-based discussions, and post-round debriefings that encourage fellows to analyze clinical choices and outcomes.
Journal Clubs and Scholarly Dialogue
Faculty guide and participate in monthly journal clubs, helping fellows critically evaluate current literature and integrate new research findings into clinical practice. These discussions emphasize evidence-based medicine and the evolving landscape of surgical critical care.
Conferences and Didactics
Faculty present and facilitate weekly morbidity and mortality conferences, case reviews, and didactic sessions. Through these venues, they model clinical reasoning, discuss complex cases, and highlight best practices in patient care.
Mentorship and Professional Development
Beyond structured activities, faculty mentor fellows in scholarly projects, quality improvement initiatives, and preparation for regional and national presentations.
