Tallahassee, Florida is the state's capital and has a lively mix of culture, entertainment, history, and recreation. You can find outdoor activities like kayaking or fishing in its many rivers or lakes, visit the local galleries and museums, or join one of the city's many festivals and events. There's something for everyone here. Tallahassee is close to other cities like Pensacola and Jacksonville, making it a great place for visitors who want a variety of experiences. Florida's capital/Town with colleges - Center of Florida Panhandle, 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and 20 miles from the Georgia border. Tallahassee, Florida's capital, is among the hills of the northwest part of the state. It is in the center of the eight-county "Big Bend" region. Tallahassee is near the Gulf of Mexico, about twenty miles to the south, and Georgia, fourteen miles to the north. It has shady roads and green spaces, giving it more of a Southern charm than a city feel and more of an oak tree look than a palm one.
