Welcoming Dolly C. Penn to BSSM!

We are pleased to announce that Dolly C. Penn, M.D., MSCR, has joined the Florida State University College of Medicine as Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine (BSSM).

Dr. Penn earned her Doctor of Medicine from Florida State University College of Medicine and a Master of Science in Clinical Research from the University of North Carolina. She completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in oncology at the University of North Carolina and a Preventive Medicine residency program. She is board certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Penn joins BSSM from the Division of Clinical and Health Services Research at the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities at the National Institutes of Health. Throughout her career, she has built an extensive portfolio spanning research, clinical care and medical education, with expertise in public health, health disparities and healthcare delivery. Her accomplishments include receiving the NIMHD Director’s Merit Award for Extramural Scientific Innovation in 2024 and the NIMHD Acting Directors Award for Teamwork and Collaboration in 2026.

At BSSM, Dr. Penn will work closely with the Center for Medicine and Public Health Policy and Practice to develop collaborative research initiatives, contribute to the college’s medical education mission with an emphasis on public health, and identify clinical care delivery opportunities aligned with FSU Health.
