Application Information

The Florida State University College of Medicine Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency at Lee Health System (Cape Coral) participates in the NRMP MATCH. 

Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Florida State University College of Medicine Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Lee Health (Cape Coral).

Minimum Requirements

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  • Official Medical School Transcripts
  • USMLE or COMLEX Scores
  • USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK (or COMLEX Level 1 and Level 2-CE) with passing scores.
  • Step 2 CK/COMLEX Level 2-CE scores must be received by the program before the NRMP rank list deadline.
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) or Dean’s Letter
  • For International Medical Graduates (IMGs)
  • ECFMG certification (must be completed and verified by June for candidates graduating that year).
  • Clinical Experience
  • Minimum of 8 months of U.S. clinical experience is required.
  • Eligibility for Licensure
  • Must be eligible to obtain a medical license in Florida, in accordance with the Department of Health/Medical Quality Assurance Division of the Florida Board of Medicine.

Preferred Requirements

Strong Examination Performance

  • USMLE Step 1 or Step 2 CK (or COMLEX Level 1 or Level 2-CE) first-attempt pass with a score greater than 220 (COMLEX equivalent score of 500) is preferred.
  • Both Step 1 and Step 2 (or COMLEX Levels 1 and 2) must be passed on the first attempt.

Recent Graduation

  • Graduation from medical school or enrollment in an accredited residency within the last three years.

U.S. Clinical Experience

  • Residency or elective rotations in the United States are preferred, especially with demonstrated performance in OB-GYN or related specialties.
