IPRD Supports Accessible Housing at Local Independence Landing Fundraiser
Faculty and colleagues from the Florida Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases recently attended the B3 Bash, a community fundraiser hosted by Independence Landing , which is developing an affordable housing community in Tallahassee for adults with intellectual, cognitive and physical disabilities.
Highlighting the critical need for accessible housing for adults with developmental disabilities, Senior Associate Director David H. Ledbetter, PhD, FACMG , who serves on the board for Independence Landing, praised the program’s impact: “Independence Landing is a unique and fabulous model for providing very high quality residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. We are fortunate to have this tremendous resource in Tallahassee, and its success is being emulated in other locations in Florida and around the U.S. We greatly appreciate the support of Dean Alma Littles and the FSU College of Medicine in this event.”
Participation in the event reflects the institute’s broader commitment to advancing initiatives that support individuals with disabilities across the lifespan. With support from the Florida State University College of Medicine , attendees helped raise awareness and strengthen collaborations aimed at improving inclusive housing opportunities in the region.
