Mission
To educate primary care physicians in the wide range of medical and musculoskeletal problems unique to athletes at all levels of participation and to graduate physicians who will become advancers in the specialty of sports medicine while providing the highest quality and safest patient care possible.
About the Program
The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship focuses on providing top-level education and training in the field of Sports Medicine while providing the highest quality and safest patient care available.
Graduates of the program will develop expertise in the care of a wide range of medical and musculoskeletal problems, possessing the clinical competence required to diagnose medical illnesses and injuries related to sports and exercise in a variety of athletes. The graduated fellows will also be proficient in all six ACGME core competencies, research, presentation and training of future sports medicine professionals.
Program Aims
- Provide opportunities in comprehensive sports coverage with opportunities to care for elite athletes.
- Fellows are proficient in all six ACGME core competencies.
- Fellows are confident in appropriate surgical and procedural experiences.
- Fellows are comfortable and effective functioning as team physicians, with varied levels of participation, various sports, and hold respect for athletic trainers, coaches, and other physicians on the team.
- Fellows become life-long learners and continue to advance medicine through research, publications, and teaching.
