Wellness

Wellness

Wellness is the active pursuit of choices and activities that support holistic health. Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology is rewarding but also demanding, and our program is committed to creating an environment where residents can thrive personally and professionally. We believe that supporting wellness means more than words — it requires intentional actions that build resilience, balance, and connection.

Wellness Curriculum

Our program sponsors a comprehensive wellness curriculum that includes:

  • Wellness Days– Residents receive two half-days per academic year, separate from PTO, dedicated to wellness activities and personal renewal.
  • Resident Retreats– Two full-day retreats each year. Retreats combine a morning session focused on education or program development with an afternoon recreational activity chosen by the residents.
  • ACOG Wellness Week– Celebrated annually and funded by ACOG in partnership with our program.
Didactic Wellness Topics – Lectures throughout the year on subjects such as managing fatigue, coping with difficult cases, financial planning and student loan management.
  • Protected Time– Residents on oncology and night float rotations are not required to attend Friday morning lecture, allowing for additional rest and balance.

Community and Social Support

In addition to the formal curriculum, the program hosts a variety of community-building activities:

  • Monthly Wellness Luncheons for residents and faculty
  • A New Intern Welcome Dinner for interns and their families
  • Social and recreational events such as yoga on the beach, group outings, and informal get-togethers
