Internal Medicine Clerkship

Florida State University College of Medicine offers two required Internal Medicine clerkships.

  • In the 3rd year, the student completes an 8 week rotation at their regional campus. The student is paired with clinical faculty and sees a variety of internal medicine problems both ambulatory and inpatient. During this clerkship the student continues to attend their Longitudinal Clerkship and Doctoring 3. The student meets with the clerkship director weekly where didactic discussions, case presentations, programmed clinical cases, oral presentations and write-ups are discussed. The student takes the NBME Subject Exam at the end of the rotation.
  • In the 4th year, the student completes a four week internal medicine sub-internship at one of the hospitals affiliated with their regional campus. Increasing autonomy with direct clinical faculty supervision is stressed. Weekly meetings with the clerkship director are held where case discussion, clinical presentations and reviewing programmed clinical cases are discussed.
